2 Telangana Maoists Surrender in Bhadradri Kothagudem

On Friday, two Maoists, also members of the banned Communist Party of India (Maoist), surrendered to the Bhadradri Kothagudem police. Sunil Dutt SP of Bhadradri Kothagudem, identified the Maoists as Vemula Nanga (30) and Podium Adami (28). 

Nanga joined the Maoist party in 2016, and was promoted to Dalam member and deputy commander of the Basuguda LOS, said officials. He was serving as the supply team section commander under Aithu at the time of his surrender. Adami joined the party in 2014, under the supervision of Jegurukonda's LOS commander, Mangu. She afterward worked at Satish's MMC Zone in the Bhalaghat region till 2017.

She was elevated to the position of Deputy Commander in 2014. She moved to Jegurugonda in 2017 and worked in the physicians' supply team.

The couple wanted to marry in June 2021, but their proposal was rejected by the party. They decided to leave the party after being harassed on a regular basis. They were later expelled by the CPI-M. They decided to leave the banned organisation after being harassed by Maoists on a regular basis and surrendered in order to live a better life, according to the SP, who reiterated his call for Maoist dalam and militia members to abandon violence and join the mainstream.
