"Call an Ambulance Now"- How ChatGPT Saved a Pregnant Woman's Life

What started as a casual question to an AI chatbot turned into a life-saving moment for a pregnant woman in North Carolina.

Natallia Tarrien, a photographer based in Charlotte, was eight months pregnant when she decided to ask ChatGPT a simple question, something she says she did “just for fun.”

“Why does my jaw feel tight?” she typed in, not expecting anything serious. But the answer she got changed everything.

The AI didn’t brush it off. Instead, it told her to check her blood pressure.

“So I did,” Tarrien wrote in an Instagram post. “It was high, really high.”

She waited, thinking maybe it would come down on its own. But it didn’t. In fact, it kept climbing. Still not feeling dizzy or ill, she considered ignoring it. That’s when ChatGPT became firm:

“Call an ambulance. Now.”

Thankfully, she listened.

By the time she reached the hospital, her blood pressure had soared to 200/146, a dangerously high level, especially during pregnancy. Doctors told her she was incredibly lucky to have come in when she did.

Tarrien later shared the full story online, expressing her gratitude: “ChatGPT saved my life. And my baby’s.”

What was meant to be a fun, throwaway interaction with AI ended up being a powerful reminder, sometimes, technology knows when to take things seriously, even if we don’t.
