Popular director Ram Gopal Varma’s biographical political thriller film “Vyooham” (Vyuham) was screened at various places in the United States. A large number of Telugu-speaking people and supporters of ruling YSRCP attended the film screenings which were held in cities like Saint Louis, Hartford, Dallas and Seattle.

After the screening, the supporters of YSRCP in the USA came together to express their views on the movie and also extended their unwavering support to the ruling party. The Telugu diaspora conveyed their best wishes to the chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and raised the “Siddham” slogan in the theatres. They exuded confidence that the YSRCP will score a landslide victory in the Assembly elections.

The opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and Jana Sena Party (JSP) left no stone unturned to block the release of RGV’s directorial because the director has exposed their anti-people politics in the movie. The opposition leaders were anxious that if the film is shown in theatres then they will lose their trust and support and it will impact their parties winning prospects in the ensuing Assembly and Lok Sabha elections.

To this end, they even approached the court to stall the release of the movie. The TDP leader Nara had filed a petition in the Telangana High Court challenging  the certificate for theatrical release of the movie. Earlier, a single judge bench of the High Court had asked the Censor Board to take a decision on issuing a new censor certificate. Later, the matter went to the division bench. Following the directive of the High Court, the censor board reviewed the film and issued a U certificate to the movie.

Ram Gopal Varma’s another political thriller film "Sapatham" is slated for release in theatres on March 1. Vyooham and Sapatham films are said to be inspired by the politics in Andhra Pradesh.
