Who Was Driving Cyrus Mistry's Car At The Time Of Accident?

Cyrus Mistry, former Chairman of Tata Sons, while travelling from Ahmedabad to Mumbai, died in a road accident on September 4 after his car hit a divider. 4 people were present in the car; 2 died on spot and 2 were moved to the hospital. Dr Anahita Pandole and her husband Darius Pandole, who were travelling with Cyrus Mistry, were brought by road to HN Reliance Foundation Hospital in Mumbai today. Dr Tarang Gianchandani, CEO, HN Reliance Foundation Hospital said a team of 20 multi-disciplinary doctors are evaluating them.

According to the police, the car Cyrus Mistry was travelling in was being driven by a top gynecologist from Mumbai. The gynecologist's husband Darius Pandole and his brother Jahangir were also present in the car. 

Reports say that over speeding might be the reason for the accident. It is said that the person who is at the wheel tried to overtake another vehicle from the wrong side. The gynecologist, Anahita Pandole (55), and her husband Darius Pandole (60) survived the crash, while Mistry (54) and Jahangir Pandole, brother of Darius, were killed in the accident. Police said that Cyrus Mistry and Jehangir Pandole were in the back seat and not wearing seat belts.

Cyrus Mistry and Jahangir were in the back seats while Darius was in the front seat with Anahita who was driving the car.

"A woman was driving the car and tried to overtake another vehicle from the left side, but lost control and crashed into the road divider," an eyewitness said. The eyewitness also said that "We rushed to the accident spot but did not touch the vehicle or the injured persons. After 10 minutes, two injured persons were pulled out of the car and shifted by an ambulance to the hospital. The other two were dead."
