Summer Holidays 2025: Indian Railways to Run 1,200 Special Trains

In anticipation of the summer vacation rush, the Central and Western Railways are all set to operate over 1,200 summer special trains starting from April 1, 2025. The initiative is aimed at easing travel for passengers during the peak holiday season. Western Railway will operate 930 of these special trains, while Central Railway will run 356 additional trains.

Western Railway Summer Special Trains:

Western Railway will operate a total of 930 trips across 29 pairs of special trains. These trains will connect several states, with a focus on Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Delhi, and Rajasthan, as well as Eastern states like Bihar, Odisha, and West Bengal.

Here’s a list of train routes under Western Railway’s summer special services:

Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Delhi, and Rajasthan - 16 pairs of trains, totaling 376 trips.

Bihar, Odisha, and West Bengal - 7 pairs of trains, totaling 140 trips.

Telangana and Karnataka - 2 pairs of trains, totaling 106 trips.

Udhna (Surat) to various destinations - 6 pairs of trains, totaling 192 trips.

Gujarat (Ahmedabad, Gandhidham, Vadodara, Rajkot, Bhavnagar) - 16 pairs of trains to various stations.

In total, Western Railway will run approximately 300 general second-class coaches, catering particularly to migrant workers traveling to their hometowns.

Central Railway Summer Special Trains:

Central Railway will operate 356 summer special trains, providing additional travel options between Mumbai and several key destinations. These services will help accommodate the increased passenger load during the summer rush.

The routes under Central Railway’s summer special service are as follows:

Mumbai-Nagpur/Karmali/Thiruvananthapuram - 50 trips of the CSMT-Nagpur bi-weekly special.

Mumbai-Karmali (Goa) - 18 trips of the CSMT-Karmali weekly special.

Mumbai-Thiruvananthapuram - 18 trips of the LTT-Thiruvananthapuram weekly special.

Pune-Nagpur - 24 trips of the Pune-Nagpur weekly superfast AC special.

Daund-Kalaburagi - 128 trips of the Daund-Kalaburagi unreserved special.

Mumbai-Hazur Sahib Nanded - 24 additional trips between Lokmanya Tilak Terminus and Hazur Sahib Nanded.

These trains will help ease the passenger traffic on busy routes, ensuring more comfortable travel for those heading home or on vacation.

With these extra trains, both Central and Western Railways aim to ensure smooth travel for passengers during the summer months.
