Popular Bollywood Actress Likely to Contest LS Polls

Mumbai: Popular Bollywood actress Madhuri Dixit may take a plunge in politics with the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. For quite some, her potential entry into politics is being speculated in the media. There are reports that the BJP is actively considering fielding her as a party candidate in the upcoming elections. 

The reports of her induction into the saffron party surfaced during Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s visit to Mumbai. The speculation about her potential candidacy had gained attention as Shah discussed the Lok Sabha elections with the Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. 

The speculation has reignited as huge hoardings of Madhuri Dixit have come up across Mumbai for the Sai Baba Utsav (festival). Out of the total 6 Lok Sabha constituencies in Mumbai, North-Mumbai and North-Central Mumbai constituencies are regarded as strongholds of BJP. North-Central Mumbai parliamentary constituency is represented by Poonam Mahajan and this constituency gives 6 MLAs. This Lok Sabha constituency is dominated by both the BJP and the Shinde group of Shiv Sena. Poonam won twice in a row from this constituency. 

As the rumours continue to circulate about Madhuri Dixit’s political debut, the actress has said she has no intention of contesting elections under a political party. Meanwhile, the Maharashtra BJP chief Chandrashekar Bawankule said that no proposal on her candidature is on the table yet.
