Bihar Election 2025: Schools, Colleges holidays in 17 Districts

The Government of Bihar and the Election Commission of India have announced that all schools, colleges, and educational institutions across 17 districts will remain closed during the first phase of Bihar Assembly Elections 2025. This will make sure that the process of voting is without glitches and secure, as many polling booths are situated on educational campuses.

The polling in the first phase, covering 121 Assembly constituencies, will be held in the last week of October 2025. Patna, Darbhanga, Muzaffarpur, and many other important districts fall within the ambit of the closure. Remaining phases of elections with counting are likely in November 2025.

This temporary shutdown of academic institutions is intended to facilitate efficient election arrangements and provide sufficient time for staff members involved in polling duties.

Why Schools and Colleges Are Closed During Elections

As Bihar prepares to go for the Assembly Elections, the state has made security and arrangements at polling stations one of the top priorities. Many voting centers are set up inside schools and colleges, and therefore, the premises must be kept empty and available wholly for election-related activities.

The closure also allows the government to mobilize teachers and support staff, who are greatly needed in various essential election operations such as managing booths, organizing queues, and maintaining official records.

Overall, this measure underlines the state's effort to prioritize democratic participation and administrative efficiency while ensuring safety and transparency during the election period.
