Banks in Bihar and Meghalaya will remain closed on Thursday, November 6, 2025, following the Reserve Bank of India’s regional holiday calendar for the fiscal 2025-26. The closures coincide with the first phase of Bihar Assembly elections and the Nongkrem dance festival in Meghalaya.
Bank Holiday in Bihar: Assembly Elections
Banks in Bihar will be closed due to the first phase of the Bihar Legislative Assembly elections, covering 121 constituencies. The elections are being held in two phases to elect a total of 243 members. The second phase, covering 122 seats, is scheduled for November 11, with results expected on November 14.
Bank Holiday in Meghalaya: Nongkrem Dance
In Meghalaya, banks will remain closed to observe the Nongkrem Dance festival, a five-day religious celebration of the Khasi tribe. The festival honours Goddess Ka Blei Synshar and includes traditional rituals, sacrifices, and vibrant dance performances by men and women in traditional attire.
Upcoming Bank Closures in Meghalaya
Meghalaya will see another bank holiday on Friday, November 7, 2025, for the Wangala festival, celebrated by the Garo tribe to honour the Sun God. This means banks in Meghalaya will remain closed for two consecutive days.

Apart from regional holidays, banks across India are closed on second and fourth Saturdays and all Sundays. November 2025 also features other bank holidays such as Guru Nanak Jayanti and Kartika Purnima.
