Bank Holiday in Bihar? Check If Banks Are Open or Closed During Phase 2 Polls Today

Banks across Bihar will remain open today, November 11, during the second phase of the Legislative Assembly elections, according to the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) region-wise holiday calendar.
Bank Holiday for Bihar Assembly Elections
The Bihar Legislative Assembly elections are being conducted in two phases to elect 243 members to the state assembly.
- Phase 1: Voting for 121 constituencies was held on November 6, during which banks in Bihar remained closed.
- Phase 2: Polling for the remaining 122 seats is being conducted today, November 11.
The results of the Bihar Assembly polls will be declared on November 14. The RBI has clarified that banks across Bihar will not remain closed today and will continue to operate as usual despite the polling schedule.
When Are Banks Closed?
The RBI designates bank holidays in different parts of India to observe national, religious, and regional occasions. Apart from these, banks are also closed on:
- All Sundays
- Second and Fourth Saturdays of every month
Next Bank Holiday in November 2025
There are no additional scheduled bank holidays for national or regional events in November 2025. Banks will only remain closed on weekends — except the third and fifth Saturdays, which will be working days.
Bank Holidays Observed in November 2025
In total, banks were closed for five days in November (excluding weekends), to mark various festivals and state-specific occasions across India:
November 1:
- Karnataka — Closed for Kannada Rajyothsava, celebrating the 1956 formation of Karnataka.
- Dehradun — Closed for Igas-Bagwal (Budhi Deepawali).
November 5:
Banks closed in several regions including Aizawl, Belapur, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Dehradun, Hyderabad, Itanagar, Jaipur, Jammu, Kanpur, and Kohima for Guru Nanak Jayanti, Kartika Purnima, and Rahas Purnima.
November 6:
- Shillong — Banks remained closed for the Nongkrem Dance Festival, a traditional Khasi celebration featuring dance and ceremonial rituals.
November 7:
- Shillong — Banks were closed for the Wangala Festival, honoring Saljong (the Sun God) with traditional music and dance.
November 8:
- Bengaluru — Banks were shut for Kanakadasa Jayanthi, marking the birth anniversary of the saint-poet and social reformer Shri Kanakadasa.
Banking Services Available on Holidays
Even when branches are closed, digital and online banking services remain fully operational across India. Customers can continue to access essential services such as:
- Fund transfers through NEFT, RTGS, IMPS, and UPI
- Credit/debit card and ATM services
- Online account management, including requests for chequebooks, demand drafts, and standing instructions
- Locker applications and account maintenance forms
These digital services ensure that banking operations continue uninterrupted, offering convenience and accessibility to customers nationwide — even during holidays or elections.
