Coolie Effect: Lokesh Kanagaraj Dumps Kaithi 2, Bets Big on Kamal-Rajni Combo?

Lokesh Kanagaraj's highly anticipated movie Coolie had opened up to middling reviews from critics and audiences. Before the release, Coolie was touted to be Kollywood's first-ever Rs.1000 crore grosser, and despite the mixed talk, Sun Pictures announced that the film grossed more than Rs.400 crores in just 4 days.

But, looking at the way things are progressing for Coolie in terms of box office, hitting the Rs.1000 crore mark seems impossible. Fans witnessed back-to-back middling outings from two legends of Tamil cinema in Thug Life and Coolie, respectively.

Even though people are slowly warming towards the film after the initial reviews, Coolie might not be the blockbuster the Tamil industry is waiting for, and now, multiple reports from Tamil media claim that Kamal Haasan has asked Lokesh Kanagaraj to direct a film with him and Rajinikanth.

In multiple interviews before the movie, Lokesh confirmed that his next directorial will be Kaithi 2, but it looks like things are changing now, and Lokesh Kanagaraj will instead be directing Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth in one film. If this happens, then Kollywood can be hopeful of getting a Rs.1000 crore blockbuster.

But, these remain speculations as of now, and it remains to be seen if this actually materializes. If it does, will Lokesh Kanagaraj include Rajinikanth in his much-hyped LCU? All these remain unanswered questions for now.
