The recent Bird Flu disease in Andhra Pradesh caused a lot of damage to the poultry industry as thousands of birds were either dead or were forcibly killed to stop the spread. There were even reports of people getting the Bird Flu disease after coming into contact with these birds. However, authorities quickly quashed those rumors and reaffirmed to the public that there was no need to worry.

Amid such scare, experts were predicting that people would stop consuming chicken for a while and their prices would drop. But, surprisingly that wasn't the case. The demand for chicken remained the same and there was no impact of Bird Flu. Later, official confirmation came that Bird Flu bacteria won't be alive if the meat is cooked above 70 degrees and this added to the existing demand for meat.

To further remove any doubts in people's minds over getting Bird Flu over chicken consumption, the Poultry Breeders Coordination Association organized free distribution of chicken and egg-based snacks in six locations across Hyderabad on Friday. The same thing happened in Guntur as well.

The response to this free distribution service was overwhelming. Hoards of people flocked to the arenas to grab their favorite snacks and have a fun time with friends. The demand turned so intense and the crowd grew so large that the organizers had to close the gates to control the rush.

While meat-eaters continued to consume chicken despite the Bird Flu in Telangana, the disease did affect chicken sales in some areas of the state. Industry experts once again confirmed that properly cooked poultry causes no harm.
