Why 'The' Vijay Deverakonda? Actor's Candid Reply

The South Indian film industry loves giving actors special titles or tags like Thala, Thalapathy, Superstar and Megastar. Recently actor Vijay Deverakonda started using "The" before his name leaving many fans wondering about the reason behind it. In a recent interview, Deverakonda himself provided the explanation.

During a conversation with the Galatta Plus YouTube channel, the interviewer directly asked Deverakonda about "The" prefix. Initially, he joked, "All the good titles like Thala, Thalapathy and Thalaivar are already taken."

However, Deverakonda then gave a more serious answer. He revealed that for the last three or four films, the producers wanted to give him a title, but he kept refusing. After considering various options, he decided that his name alone was sufficient and if a tag was needed, "The" would suffice.

"I am very happy with the name my parents gave me. There's only one and only Vijay Deverakonda and he is The Vijay Deverakonda. So we've managed to restrict it to that," he said.

When the interviewer suggested the title, "Charismatic Vijay Deverakonda," the actor firmly stated, "No I love the way Vijay Deverakonda sounds. Only Vijay Deverakonda. Full Stop."

On the work front, Vijay Deverakonda is busy promoting his upcoming film "Family Star" with Mrunal Thakur. The movie marks the second collaboration with director Parasuram Petla after their successful outing "Geetha Govindam." Produced by Dil Raju under the SVC banner, "Family Star" is scheduled for an April 5th theatrical release in Telugu and Tamil languages.
