Tollywood actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu has always been a hot topic on social media. During the release of her film Shaakuntalam, she broke down in tears on a stage. She was heavily trolled for getting emotional on stage and gave her titles like Sympathy Star and Sympathy Queen. A few days before the release of this movie, she was admitted to the hospital for treatment.

In spite of all the pain, she dubbed for the film and attended the promotions. During the promotions, she spoke about her illness and the pain she was going through, however, this was not well received by the netizens who started commenting that the actress wanted to generate hype and publicity for her upcoming Shaakuntalam movie.

In a recent interview to a news channel, Samantha acknowledged that she was given the title "Sympathy Queen" for her emotional displays at a film promotion event. However, she claimed that she remained unfazed by the trolling and criticism. Samantha said many people thought that she broke down in tears while revealing her illness (myositis) during the promotions of Shaakuntalam to garner public sympathy. Explaining the reason, the Tollywood actress said she was forced to go public about her disorder and the producers had asked her to promote the film.

Despite her ill health, Samantha appeared highly energetic on stage during the event. However, upon witnessing the audience's presence, she became overwhelmed with emotion. Having fully recovered from her disorder, the actress is now prepared to make a strong comeback in films.
