Reason Behind Director Surya Kiran's Sudden Death

A day after noted Telugu filmmaker Surya Kiran passed away, Karate Kalyani, who plays character roles in Telugu movies, expressed shock at the untimely demise of the filmmaker. The funeral of the deceased filmmaker was held in Chennai on Tuesday.  The 48-year-old director was undergoing treatment at Chennai's GEM hospital.It was reported that Surya died due to jaundice. However, Kalyani said she disagrees with the cause of death. 

Both Surya and Kalyani were contestants on Bigg Boss Telugu season 4 show. Surya had married South Indian actor Kaveri Kalyani but it didn’t last and the couple got divorced. Karate Kalyani said Surya was not happy with his wife Kalyani and the couple would frequently quarrel. After getting divorce from his wife, Surya went into depression, she said. 

Bigg Boss contestant further said that the filmmaker thought there was nothing left for him. He was depressed so ended up drinking heavily. Because of his drinking habit, his liver got badly damaged and he underwent treatment at a hospital. Kalyani said as the director did not stop consuming alcohol and due to underlying liver problems he got jaundice which proved fatal for him, she added. 

Surya’s last movie 'Arasi', in which Varalakshmi Sarathkukar is playing a major role, will be released in theatres soon. Surya Kiran made his directorial debut in 2003 with the film 'Sathyam', which was released in 2003. It was a major hit. The film featured Sumanth Akkineni and Genelia D'Souza in lead roles.

The other movies he had directed were 'Dhana 51', 'Brahmastram', 'Raju Bhai' and 'Chapter 6'. He had acted in around 200 Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam movies as a child artist by the name Master Suresh. Surya Kiran played a popular child artist role in the first 3D Malayalam movie 'My Dear Kuttichathan', which was a roaring hit.

He, however, made his debut as a child artist in the movie 'Snehikkan Oru Pennu' released in the year 1978.
