Chhaava Box Office Collections Day 5: Earns Rs 24.50 Cr, Maintains Steady Hold

Vicky Kaushal and Rashmika Mandanna’s historical action film, Chhaava, continues its run at the box office but has experienced a slight drop in earnings on its fifth day. Released last week, the film had a strong start, receiving positive reviews from both critics and audiences. However, the momentum seems to have slowed after a promising weekend.

As per trade trackers, Chhaava earned Rs 24.50 crore on its fifth day, bringing its total earnings to Rs 165 crore. While the film has maintained a steady double-digit collection, its earnings have dipped compared to previous days. On its fourth day, the film collected Rs 24 crore, marking a significant 50.52% drop from Day 3, where it earned Rs 48.5 crore. On opening day, Chhaava earned Rs 31 crore, with a notable rise on Day 2, collecting Rs 37 crore.

The film recorded an overall Hindi occupancy of 26.12% on Tuesday, with morning shows at 18.19%, followed by 26.42% in the afternoon, and 33.76% in the evening. This dip in earnings suggests a gradual decline in the audience’s footfall.

Directed by Laxman Utekar and produced by Dinesh Vijan under Maddock Films, Chhaava is a historical drama based on the life of Maratha king Sambhaji, portrayed by Vicky Kaushal. The film also stars Rashmika Mandanna as Maharani Yesubai, with Akshaye Khanna playing Aurangzeb. The ensemble cast includes Ashutosh Rana as Sarsenapati Hambirao Mohite and Divya Dutta as Soyarabai. Chhaava is adapted from the Marathi novel Chhava by Shivaji Sawant, with music composed by A. R. Rahman and lyrics by Irshad Kamil.

While the film was hailed for its potential to showcase Sambhaji’s bravery, some reviews pointed out that it was hampered by "bad editing" and the excessive superhero-like portrayal of the Maratha king. Despite these criticisms, the film was appreciated for its emotional depth, especially in moments that humanized Sambhaji's character and resonated with the audience.

In a show of support, the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has requested Maharashtra's Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis, to declare Chhaava tax-free in the state due to its historical and cultural importance. The film continues to captivate audiences, and its box office earnings are expected to remain strong in the coming days.
