In a welcome initiative, the Telangana government has said schools in the state will be allowed to function on half-day schools from March 15 due to the upcoming summer season. Based on the notification issued by the Education Department, schools will remain open from 8 am to 12:30 pm till the completion of the academic year.
The move is intended to give relief to students from the hot summer sun. The new timings will be implemented in all schools in the state, both government, private, and aided schools.
It may be noted that the half-day schedule will not impact the current Class 10 board exams. The exam centers will function from 1 pm to 5 pm, as scheduled.
The decision of the Education Department has been received warmly by students and parents alike, who were apprehensive about the extreme summer heat. With the new timings, students will get to escape the hottest part of the day in summer and concentrate on their studies in a relaxed atmosphere.
The Telangana government's move is in the right direction, placing the well-being and welfare of its students first. With the arrival of summer soon, it's crucial to take steps to counter the effects of the heat on students' health as well as their studies.
By implementing the half-day schedule, the Telangana government is setting a positive precedent for other states to follow. As the country gears up to face the challenges of climate change, it's crucial to adopt measures that prioritize the health, safety, and education of our children.
