Hyderabad : A man was arrested by the Abdullapurmet police, on Wednesday, on charges of killing his wife and 43-day old infant, after a heated argument between the couple.
As per the police reports, the accused, Y Dhanaraj, stabbed his wife with an axe and a beer bottle and drowned the baby into a water sump in their house. The twin murder occurred in Anajpur village in Abdullapurmet at around 1:30 PM.
As per police investigation Dhanaraj who was a labourer, was constantly quarrelling with his wife Lavanya. She had recently given birth to a boy.
On 15th March afternoon the couple who had a daughter saw her father beating her mother ran for help. She informed the neighbours and by the time they arrived, the accused already killed both of them. They found Dhanraj with clothes soiled with blood and immediately called the police who took him into custody.
Dhanraj told the police during interrogation that his wife would taunt him stating that the Kriyansh their son was not his biological child , which was false. He said that he was irritated with these claims her frequent annoyance provoked him to kill them.
Meanwhile, the victim’s family stated that she was being harassed for extra dowry and therefore a case for dowry death case was also registered against Dhanraj, stated Rachakonda police officials. ( Inputs from TOI)
