488 Journalists Detained Globally, 48 of Them Killed In 2021: Report

In 2021, 488 journalists were detained throughout the world, with 48 of them being killed, according to a report.
According to Reporters Without Borders (RWB), 488 journalists were jailed worldwide in 2021, the highest number ever documented by the organisation. It went on to say that 46 journalists were murdered this year, the lowest number in over two decades. According to the report, Belarus and China are among the countries that have reported an increase in journalist detentions.
