Vijayawada: TDP’s candidate Bonda Umamaheswara Rao created a high drama at the party office in Ajit Singh Nagar in Vijayawada on Friday night claiming the police are attempting to arrest him in connection with the assassination attempt on chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.

After noticing the policemen approaching the party office, TDP’s candidate Vijayawada Central assembly constituency got panicked and started calling the party leaders for assistance. Initially, two constables were deployed for the TDP leader’s security at his residence in Mogalrajapuram. When the policemen told Bonda that they were here to provide him a security cover, the TDP leader got scared and left for office in a car.

Visibly scared, Bonda mistook the bandobast police party for Task Force police and shadow teams and told his party colleagues over phone that they had come to arrest him. Fearing potential arrest, the TDP leader went upstairs to the party office, changed into formal dress and escaped the police by jumping to the nearest building. Meanwhile, a large number of TDP leaders and workers had gathered around the office which resulted in chaos in the area.

It may be noted here that following the release of the election schedule, the state police have started deploying the police teams in sensitive areas, important places and at the party offices to avoid any law and order situation. A few days ago, the Vijayawada police had arrested the prime accused identified as Satish in the assassination attempt on chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and interrogating other suspects.
