Tenali (Guntur district): Differences in TDP-Janasena combine came to the fore when the senior Janasena leader and Tenali candidate Nadendla Manohar was attacked with a bottle of water by TDP activists.. One of the activists, flung the water bottle directed at the Janasena leader. The bottle hit him on the head, leading to a tense situation in the area.

TDP's Guntur MP candidate Pemmasani Chandrasekhar and Janasena assembly candidate Nadendla Manohar kicked off the Jana Chaitanya padayatra in Tenali on Thursday evening. The padayatra commenced from the Janasena party office on Bose Road. As the footmarch approached Venus Talkies area, former TDP minister Alapati Rajendra Prasad (Raja) along with the party supporters came and met them.

Soon after, TDP activists and leaders resorted to sloganeering in support of Raja. On the other hand, Janasena activists shouted slogans hailing Nadendla Manohar. As both the groups were raising slogans, a minor scuffle broke out between the supporters from both sides. During the chaos, someone threw a bottle of water at Nadendla Manohar which hit him on the head.

The incident left everyone shocked. Janasena sources alleged that the attack was carried out by Alapati Raja's faction. It is reported that Raja was a ticket aspirant from Tenali constituency and his supporters were angry because the TDP leadership denied the ticket to him. As part of the seat-sharing arrangement between the TDP and Janasena, the Tenali seat was allocated to Manohar. The assault on Janasena leader caused chaos and many people who had come for the padayatra left without completing it.
