Protests in TDP over seat sharing with Jana Sena: Naidu almost fell off the stage

East Godavari: Chaos reigned supreme at Telugu Desam Party’s (TDP) ‘Ra Kadali Ra' meeting in Rajahmundry on Monday. The supporters of party leader Boddu Venkataramana Chowdary staged a protest in the presence of party chief Chandrababu Naidu over the allocation of Rajanagaram assembly seat to the alliance partner Jana Sena Party.

Venkataramana was recently appointed as Rajanagaram assembly segment Incharge by the party leadership. The supporters were aggressive in their protest and in the melee, Naidu was pushed down by someone in the crowd, however, the security personnel reacted swiftly and prevented him from falling down the stage. The video of chaos in the TDP meeting has since gone viral on social media.

Recently, the TDP chief had announced the candidates for the Araku and Mandepeta constituencies without any consultations with the alliance partner Jana Sena. Aggrieved Pawan Kalyan reacted sharply to the ‘unilateral’ decision of Naidu and to counter his move he went ahead announcing that his party would contest from Rajanagaram and Razole constituencies in the ensuing elections.

The dissenting voices in the opposition camp are growing by each day. Both the leaders Naidu and Pawan are facing opposition from their own supporters. The seat sharing in the TDP-JanaSena combine has become a headache for the opposition parties. Naidu and Pawan had come together with the sole aim of dislodging the YS Jagan government from power, however, the growing impatience among the ticket aspirants could further weaken the opposition alliance.
