Amaravati: Ruling YSRCP has taken a jibe at the opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) for failing to fulfill its poll promises made to the people during the 2014 elections. The TDP had an electoral tie-up with Pawan Kalyan-led Jana Sena Party (JSP) during the 2014 Lok Sabha and Assembly elections.
The TDP rode to power on nearly 600 promises it made to the voters during the election campaign in Andhra Pradesh. Later, the party realised that it cannot implement all the poll promises. The party chief Chandrababu Naidu went back on each poll promise he had made to the people. He had also promised to waive off the crop and SHG loans including one job to every household in the State.
Coming under pressure from the then opposition YSRCP and the people for failing to implement the electoral promises, the party silently removed the election speeches made by Naidu during the poll campaigns in the State.
Joining the social media trend #TuesdayThrowback, the YSRCP made a critical post on X (formerly Twitter) against the TDP using an analogy of empty plate, spoon and fork image to remind the opposition party what it offered to the electorate during the 2014 elections and what it delivered after coming to power in the state. It also said the ‘hungry’ electorate will no doubt ‘throw Naidu’ out of the state in the forthcoming elections.
“A menu with 600+ dishes and not a single one served! No wonder why people are ‘hungry’ to throw you out of the state!,” the party also wrote in its post on X.
Dear @jaiTDP, keeping up with the #TuesdayThrowback trend, here’s a reminder of what you offered the people of #AndhraPradesh when they made the mistake to trust you back in 2014!

However, what is more interesting is when the TDP was taking down Naidu’s speeches from the party’s website, Pawan Kalyan’s Jana Sena maintained stoic silence. Interestingly, Pawan Kalyan launched the party with the sole aim of questioning the powers that be. But, he compromised with the ideals of his own party and still supports Naidu in his political endeavours.
Unlike TDP, the ruling YSRCP believes in walking the talk. The chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy not only made poll promises to the people during the 2019 Assembly elections but he also made every effort to fulfill almost all populist promises. The ruling party is now gearing up to contest the ensuing elections on the development plank and its pro-people agenda.
