Thandel movie's authenticity and its makers political interests questioned

Real-life victims have criticized the makers of the film Thandel, which was released today, February 7, for omitting the name of former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy from its narrative. Thandel is inspired by real-life incidents that took place in the Srikakulam region in 2018.

The omission of YS Jagan's name, who played a pivotal role during the crisis, has sparked outrage among the real-life victims. They are demanding that the filmmakers provide an explanation for this exclusion. The controversy surrounding Thandel has raised concerns about the film's accuracy and its portrayal of real events.

The victims have also addressed the media, calling for a halt to the film’s screening, as it fails to acknowledge Jagan Mohan Reddy’s efforts and the role of the village Sarpanch during that period. They are urging the filmmakers to include a reference to the former Chief Minister’s contributions in the movie.

It is further reported that the film’s storyline is based on the true story of fishermen who inadvertently crossed into Pakistan’s territorial waters. In this context, the actual victims of the incident are now questioning the film’s authenticity and accusing the filmmakers of deliberately excluding Jagan Mohan Reddy’s name, despite his role in facilitating their return home.
