Hats off to CM YS Jagan, says Eluru TDP leader

With the announcement of third list of TDP candidates, it is amply clear that the opposition party does only lip service to the BC community. The TDP seems to have done grave injustice to the marginalised section in the allocation of seats for the May 13 polls in the state.

The BC community has expressed its dissatisfaction with the TDP leadership as it has allocated only 4 Lok Sabha and 31 assembly seats to the community. On the contrary, the ruling YSRCP has increased the participation of the BC community in the upcoming elections. The ruling party is fielding 11 Lok Sabha and 48 assembly candidates from the BC community. In the 2019 elections alone, the ruling party had fielded 48 BC candidates.

The TDP’s much-hyped BC Declaration, a vision document aimed at the holistic development of Backward Classes (BC), has proved to be a farce now. The BC community is unhappy with Chandrababu Naidu for fielding non-BC candidates from predominantly BC constituencies like Visakhapatnam, Narasaraopet and Guntur seats. Notably, Nara Lokesh is contesting from Mangalagiri seat yet again. The BC ticket aspirants were hoping for the party ticket from Mangalagiri constituency.

Some TDP leaders from the BC community showered praise on YSRCP chief and chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy for giving a lion’s share to their community in the seat allocation. They said CM YS Jagan is committed to the party's social justice agenda and is giving priority to the BCs in all departments.

Meanwhile, TDP has fielded senior leader Yanamala Rama Krishnudu’s son-in-law Putta Mahesh Yadav from Eluru MP seat while snubbing Gorumutchu Gopal Yadav who had worked hard to improve the party’s prospects in the Lok Sabha constituency. Eluru TDP parliamentary incharge Gopal Yadav said that Naidu has betrayed him.

“I will always admire your courage. YS Jagan Mohan Reddy garu, I am sorry if I have ever wrongly criticised your party. I never had any personal grudges against you,” TDP leader Gopal Yadav said.
