Tirupati: Stating that YSRCP will be voted to power again in the next elections, Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy said that God would teach a fitting lesson to Congress for playing its old dirty games in Andhra Pradesh.

Replying to queries from senior journalist Rajdeep Sardesai at the India Today Education Summit here on Wednesday, the Chief Minister said that the Congress has pitted his sister YS Sharmila against him in the State.

“Congress has not yet learnt any lessons from history. It has unjustly divided the State then and now our family for political gains. But there is a super power watching everything and God will teach it a fitting lesson,” he said.

Congress follows divide and rule policy from the beginning and had earlier fielded his paternal uncle against him. When asked how confident he is of winning the next elections, he said hope is stronger than reality.

“We will win. We have fulfilled what we have promised. We have implemented welfare schemes in full transparency and without any bias and carried out reforms in education, medical and health and administrative sectors fulfilling 99.5 percent of our election promises,” he said, adding that YSRCP is seeking votes from people based on the good done to them.

Reiterating that the Government has spent more than Rs. 2,53,000 crore on various DBT welfare schemes in the last 56 months, the Chief Minister observed that the opposition parties never dare to talk about the welfare schemes.

“During the TDP rule also, the budget was the same but they never cared to implement welfare schemes,” he said.

Replying to a query on the arrest of TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu, the Chief Minister said that there was no political vendetta in his arrest.

“Courts of law are the ultimate authority in assessing the evidence and he was remanded to judicial custody by legal courts based on the evidence in the skill development scam,” he said.

National parties BJP and Congress have no major role to play in the State politics.

The battle will be between YSRCP and the TDP and Jana Sena combine in the next elections, he said, adding that the Party has been changing candidates in some places based on social dynamics, surveys and perceptions.

When asked about the confusion created by these changes, the Chief Minister said that he has decided to undertake the changes early for more clarity. On extending support to the present ruling party at the Centre, he said that YSRCP has extended issue based support to the BJP and maintained cordial relations with it keeping in mind the State interest.
