What is wrong if YSRCP gives ticket to Tipper Driver?: CM Jagan's Counter to Chandrababu

CM Jagan Expands Vahana Mitra Scheme To Include Truck & Lorry Owners

In a significant announcement on Thursday (April 4, 2024), Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy expanded the scope of the Vahana Mitra scheme to include truck and lorry owners. Remember, via this scheme, the YSRCP Government provides financial assistance of Rs 10,000 per year to all eligible self-owned auto, taxi, and maxi cab drivers. The declaration came on Day 8 of the Memantha Siddham rally in Tirupati district and the comment was made specifically during the ‘Driverlatho Mukha Mukhi’ program in Chinna Singanamala where CM Jagan also reaffirmed his commitment to inclusivity and the dignity of every profession.

Hitting out at TDP Chief Chandrababu Naidu over his recent derogatory remarks against YSRCP candidate Veeranjaneyu, who he mocked as a ‘tipper driver’, CM Jagan said, ‘Just like Veeranjaneyulu, individuals from all social classes and professions must get the opportunity to serve as legislators. When a person from a particular profession occupies a seat in the assembly, they can advocate for the issues specific to their profession, thereby bringing them to the government's attention. In doing so, the government can effectively address the challenges faced by individuals in that profession. But, the former CM, who served three terms over 14 years, has disrespected them all by stating that, ‘Jagan has given the seat to a Tipper Driver who is illiterate and someone who uses thumbprints." What wrong have I done? What justification does he have for disrespecting the driver? While Naidu favored affluent individuals with tickets, I chose to empower the common man, and will continue to do so.’

He added, ‘I’m proud to tell you that a staggering 3,93,655 people have independently purchased autos and taxis, in a bid to sustain their livelihoods. Most of them are educated and have made investments in their businesses. They faced no fear of joblessness and received no external support, yet stood resolutely on their own, providing for their families. YSRCP has given them the recognition they deserve, granting them an identity. The Vahana Mitra scheme aims to lessen the financial burdens for beneficiaries, assisting them in overcoming all kinds of  challenges including fitness certificates.’

Highlighting the impact of the Vahana Mitra scheme, CM Jagan revealed that 18,000 families in the district have benefited from it, receiving a total of Rs 61 crores across seven segments.
Furthermore, CM Jagan encouraged people to share their suggestions and recommendations by writing them on the provided slips and depositing them into designated boxes. The Chief Minister concluded his address with a commitment to ensuring the realization of all constructive ideas for the betterment of all citizens.
