CM Jagan Tears Into Opposition Over Amaravati Land Scam

Machilipatnam: Criticising the previous TDP regime for its arrogance and injustice meted out to the poor, CM Jagan today launched a scathing attack at TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu and said that he had tried to make Amaravati a gated community meant only for the rich while he had denied basic human rights to the poor.

At the inauguration of the Machilipatnam port, CM Jagan said, ‘Chandrababu lacks basic humanity and that’s why he compared a home meant for the poor to a grave. Shame on him for having done this comparison.’

The CM further challenged Naidu, ‘Tell me one thing you have done for the poor. Tell me one positive difference that you brought into the lives of the deprived. I can bet you have nothing to say! And that’s the difference between me and you and the public knows this difference very well.’

Proving his commitment to overall development, CM Jagan announced a grand housing scheme for the poor in Amaravati that will be launched on May 26 where 50,000 house pattas (costing Rs 5000) will be provided to the poor.

CM Jagan said that the scheme is aimed at providing a decent living to the poor in Amaravati. He said that the scheme will also help to change the mindset of the poor people and make them self-reliant. This scheme, the CM said, was part of the government's commitment to provide housing for all.

CM Jagan asserted, ‘The government has already provided houses to 31 lakh people across the state and will work to make Amaravati a "city of equality" for all people, irrespective of their caste, creed, or economic status.’ He further added, ‘The government will also work to develop Amaravati as a smart city with all modern amenities.’
