Chandrababu Naidu's double standards exposed yet again

16 Feb, 2024 07:20 IST|Sakshi Post

Some opposition TDP MLAs displayed unruly behaviour during the recent Budget session in Andhra Pradesh assembly while others remained absent from the session and their leader Chandrababu Naidu skipped it altogether stating flimsy reasons. Despite TDP’s poor strength in the House, its members caused ruckus and chaos on the floor with the sole aim of making headlines and thus helping the declining popularity of party's popularity among the people of the state.

Their haste for campaigning for the opposition party right from the Assembly was quite evident during the last session before the ensuing assembly elections in the state. They left the opposition benches and trooped into the well of the House and attempted to disrupt the proceedings.

Chandrababu's brother-in-law and Hindupur MLA Nandamuri Balakrishna acted without dignity in the House. He resorted to whistling as a form of protest and ignored the decorum of the Assembly. Later, senior MLA Gadde Rammohan Rao was also seen imitating his antics.

Speaker Tammineni Sitaram patiently tolerated the unruly behaviour of the TDP members' before suspending and removing them from the House. On the contrary, when the YSRCP was in opposition, its members did not disrupt proceedings of the Assembly. Had they resorted to sloganeering and unruly behaviour, the same Naidu would have lectured the party.

In the previous term, Naidu inducted 23 YSRCP MLAs into TDP, making 4 of them ministers, leading YS Jagan Mohan Reddy to boycott the whole Assembly session and staged a walkout. Following this, Naidu criticised the opposition leader and its MLAs. Now, TDP is in opposition and Naidu is skipping the assembly session despite receiving all the benefits as a member of the House. Nonetheless, Chandrababu Naidu is known for double standards and Eenadu’s Ramoji Rao shamelessly supports his dirty politics instead of condemning it.
