AMARAVATI: The Andhra Pradesh government has made seven-day institutional quarantine mandatory for people flying in from Delhi, Chennai, Mumbai, Gujarat, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.

All domestic flights will resume in the state from Tuesday, a day after all states have restarted their operations. Union Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri had tweeted that upon the request of the YS Jagan government, flight resumption has been withheld for a day. All flights scheduled for Monday has been cancelled.

A government order by the Department of Infrastructure and Investments has been issued announcing conditions to be followed by airlines and passengers.

According to the order by Chief Secretary Nilam Sawhney, all passengers have to enrol themselves in Spandana website (spandana.ap.gov.in) and obtain clearance before buying tickets and airlines are asked to permit bookings only after clearance from Spandana.

All passengers will be screened at the airports and symptomatic persons will need to undergo institutional quarantine. They will be tested once in airport upon their arrival and again after seven days.

When tested negative in the second test, they will be allowed for home quarantine for seven days.

People coming in from high COVID-19 cities like Delhi, Chennai, Mumbai, Gujarat, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh will have to undergo mandatory institutional quarantine while those from low incidence areas and showing no symptoms would be sent to home quarantine for 14 days after their swab samples are collected upon arrival, the order read.

Meanwhile, the number of COVID-19 cases in Andhra Pradesh has rose to 2,886 on Monday after 89 more people test positive. The death toll stood at 56 in the state.
