AP Govt To Develop Online Cinema Ticketing Platform

AMARAVATI: The Andhra Pradesh government, has taken the decision to create a portal and sell cinema tickets online. On Wednesday an order was issued by Principal Secretary (Home) Kumar Vishwajeet through the State Film, Television and Theatre Development Corporation, where an exclusive web portal will be created for online booking of cinema tickets similar to the lines of the Railway Online Ticketing System.

This is being done to put an end to the monopoly of a segment of film producers who control the single screens and numerous multiplexes, especially during the release of big-ticket films.

It may be recollected that in the month of April this year the AP government issued orders, fixing the maximum ceiling rates for admission into cinemas, ranging from Rs 5 (non-AC theatre in a village) to Rs 250 (premium multiplex in a municipal corporation). This was fixed in accordance with the High Court orders.

The committee conducted a meeting here on Tuesday and discussed on how to draw the blueprint, develop and implement the new system, and the way forward.
