
Guntur: Mild tension prevailed after the leaders from Madiga community staged a dharna outside the opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) headquarters at Mangalagiri in Guntur on Tuesday. Madiga leaders raised slogans and demanded that the party should field a Madiga candidate from Tadikonda assembly segment in the ensuing Andhra Pradesh Assembly elections.
The protesting leaders warned the TDP leadership that if their demand is not met then the community voters would show its power through the ballot. Recently, the TDP leadership announced tenali Shravan Kumar as the party's candidate from Tadikonda seat. The party’s announcement has triggered angry responses from the Madiga community. The community leaders have said that the party chief Chandrababu Naidu shocked the community with the decision. Meanwhile, senior TDP leader Janardhan is trying to pacify the protesting leaders.
