Ambati Rambabu’s Daughter Mounika Emerges as a New YSRCP Voice in Guntur

What was intended to intimidate the opposition YSRCP has instead produced an unexpected political moment. The attack on the residence of former minister Ambati Rambabu, by TDP cadres, has brought his elder daughter, Ambati Mounika, into the political spotlight.

The developments followed Rambabu’s arrest and the violent assault on his house, which left his family shaken. With the former minister lodged in jail, only women were present at the residence during the attack, deepening the sense of fear and vulnerability.

Amid the crisis, Mounika stepped forward decisively. Making her first-ever interaction with the media, she spoke with composure and clarity, recounting the events of the attack and describing how her children were traumatised by the violence. Her calm yet firm account struck a strong emotional chord.

Introducing herself as a proud Kapu daughter, Mounika directly questioned Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, asking how such lawlessness could occur when he is part of the ruling establishment. She also launched a sharp critique of Union Minister Pemmasani Chandrasekhar, holding the leadership accountable for the breakdown of law and order.

The intervention surprised many within political circles. Until now, Mounika had no visible role in active politics. Yet her confident articulation, logical arguments and fearless questioning stood out. Observers noted that her remarks were sharper and more pointed than those usually made by seasoned leaders.

Her appearance has sparked widespread discussion, with many viewing it as the emergence of a new young Kapu woman leader on Andhra Pradesh’s political stage. Ironically, the momentum is being attributed to what YSRCP supporters describe as the TDP’s Red Book politics.

The prevailing view now is that an attempt to intimidate the opposition has instead strengthened it—by inadvertently introducing a strong new voice. If Ambati Mounika continues with the same composure and clarity, she could soon evolve into a significant representative of the Kapu community and a formidable presence within the YSRCP.
