Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Union Water and Energy Minister, has announced a National Water Award for the Kadapa district.
Amaravati: In the National Water Awards, Andhra Pradesh's Kadapa district was named the second-best district.
Within the South Zone, it ranked second in the Best District category. On Friday, Union Water and Energy Minister Gajendrasingh Shekawat announced the National Water Awards-2020. In the best state category, Uttar Pradesh took top place, followed by Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu. Shekhawat stated during the event that while India has more than 18% of the world's population, it only has 4% of the world's renewable water resources.

The National Water Awards are being awarded to acknowledge and promote the excellent work and efforts of states, districts, people, and organisations across the country in the quest for a "Jal Samrudh Bharat," according to the Union Minister.
The Union Minister stated that a Unified National Water Award should be established for taking a holistic approach to water resource management, taking into consideration the fact that surface water and groundwater are both essential components of the water cycle.
