AP Man Dies While Hiking In Yosemite, Friends Raise Funds To Send Body Home

Close on the heels of the tragic death of Telugu youth Anudeep Thota who drowned in Monroe Lake of USA, another such accident occured in a span of three days. Ashish Penugonda (29) a native of Andhra Pradesh fell to death while he was ascending Yosemite National Park’s Half dome trial. Ashish a biochemist with Siemens Healthcare staying in New York went on a hike with his friends up the steep slope of North side of Half dome where he accidentally slipped off from the cables and died. Half Dome is a granite dome, a  rock formation known for its distinct shape. Located in the eastern end of Yosemite Valley in Yosemite National Park, California, the slope of the Half Dome cables are 200 yards long with an inclination of about 45 degrees.

A ‘Go Fund Me’ campaign has been created by his friends to raise money for the funeral and  transportation of his body to India.
