Hyderabad: In what could a big blow to the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in Telangana especially after the exodus of its Telangana leaders into the TRS had begun, senior party leader and the torch-bearer of TDP in the state Motkupalli Narasimhulu is most likely to join Telangana Rastra Samithi (TRS).

In all probability Motkupalli is likely to formally join TRS on June 2, Telangana Formation Day in the presence of TRS President and state Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao here. It is said that the senior TDP leader was upset with the functioning of party President N Chandrababu Naidu. Moreover, the March 18 statement by Motkupalli to merge Telangana TDP with TRS didn't go down well with Chandrababu who decided to keep Motkupalli away from the party affairs since then.

The TDP leader tried to explain his statement and said he had uttered those words only keep TDP alive in the state. But since Chandrababu remained unconvinced, Motkupalli had decided to come out of the TDP. He recalled his contribution to TDP in Telangana and said that TDP held its own in Telangana, standing up to the TRS, even as Chandrababu was busy with AP politics, and it was mainly because of his campaign.

Even as TDP was losing the base in Telangana, Motkupalli stayed with the party because he was promised to be posted as a Governor for a state. Despite three years of the promise nothing seem to have moved. The TDP leader has been staying away from party activities for the past few months, but their party Chief never asked him why. He also did not participate in the recently held Mini Mahanadu in Bhongir. According to reports, Motkupalli was not invited to participate in Mini Mahanadu.

It is learnt that Motkupalli will be meeting TDP workers and his followers this month end and plan his entry into TRS. It is learnt that he would be joining TRS before panchayati and local elections in Telangana. Though Motkupalli's supporters are claiming that he would fight elections from Aleru assembly constituency, it is believed that TRS leadership would want him to fight elections from Tungaturti assembly or Warangal Parliament constituency. This would be finalised only after he joins the party.
