Two-day-old chief minister of Karnataka B. S. Yedyurappa

Bengaluru: The two-day-old chief minister of Karnataka B. S. Yedyurappa lost the no-confidence motion even before he went for it. After a brief emotional speech in which he said that the BJP and got the highest number of seats and the mandate was for his party, he said that the Congress and JDS came together in an unholy alliance. He accused them of indulging in opportunistic politics.

Yeddyurappa said that he was going to the governor to submit his resignation. He tried to take the high moral ground by saying that he wanted to serve the people and that he intended carrying out landmark decisions he had taken such as loan waivers to the extent of Rs. 1 lakh for farmers. His decision to resign marked the culmination of two days of hectic jockeying for power which saw unprecedented situations such as MLAs being ferried to Hyderabad from Bangalore, the chartered flight in which they were being taken to Kochi denied permission to take off and so on. Several twists and turns emerged in the tale as MLAs went missing and resurfaced in rival camps.
