Mohali Factory Worker’s Daughter Tops PSEB Exams  

A factory worker's daughter in Mohali created sensation in the Punjab School Education Board Class 10 exams by topping Mohali with 94 per cent marks. Pooja Kumari, who studied in Governement Senior Secondary  School, Lalru, is the daughter of a factory worker from a humble family.

Principal of Government Senior Secondary School, Lalru, Parminder Chahal said, "Pooja is a very talented, smart and versatile girl. Apart from studies, she participates in extracurricular activities and is very spontaneous. She can speak on any topic any time."

Parminder said Pooja wants to become an officer but she needs guidance in that direction. "Her father works at a factory and his income is too low to bear the expenses," he added.

Another student, Harpreet Kaur, who is the second ranker in the district, said she wanted to be an agriculturist.  It is learnt that both the toppers did not take any special tuitions before the exams.

Amarjit Singh, Managing Director of Guru Nanak Dev Public Senior Secondary School, Dharamgarh, said the school was elated with Harpreet's achievement.
