
NEW DELHI: India’s COVID-19 tally rose to 1,12,359 with 5,609 new infections, according to the Union health ministry on Thursday morning. The death toll stood at now 3,435.
There are 63,324 active cases in the country and 45,300 people have recovered and been discharged from the hospitals. The recovery rate in the country stood at 40.32 per cent.
Among the states, the worst-affected continues to be Maharashtra with 39,297 deaths and 2,161 new infections, followed by Tamil Nadu (13,191), Gujarat (12,537), Delhi (11,088), Rajasthan (6,015).

Globally, the total number of cases is now close to five million, according to Johns Hopkins University data tracker.
Meanwhile, the Indian Council of Medical Research said in the last 24 hours, 1,03,532 samples have been tested. The total number of samples tested is 26,15,920 so far.
