New Delhi: With a hub of activities floating on social media, it is hard to identify for laymen what is fake and what's not. Recently, after Parle-G came into news for hinting that it could have to lay-off about 10,000 employees following lesser demand, the girl in the Parle-G biscuit cover has made to the news yet again.

You must have come across WhatsApp forward or on any social media platforms which identified the girl as Neeru Deshpande and claims that she is 65-year-old now.

The claim further suggests that when the photo was taken she was four.

Facebook page "The Pagla Engineer" shared the post which has garnered over 700 shares. Not just Sudha Murthy though, many speculated the kid to be Neeru Deshpande, Sudha Murthy and Gunjan Gundaniya, among others.

But, hang on! the news is FAKE.

A fact check and reverse google search to the story shows that the woman in the photo is Infosys chairperson Sudha Murthy and not Neeru Deshpande. The photo of Murthy was clicked in January 2013 when she visited the office of Mehta Publishing House for an event. The photo is also available on Infosys website as well as on a blog of the publishing house.

Meanwhile, the girl in the Parle-G cover is just an illustration and no real woman. A few years ago, Parle products' group product manager Mayank Shah denied all such speculations and clarified that the kid is just an illustration which was made in the 60s by Everest Creative.
