Bengaluru: A partially burnt body of a software engineer was found at an isolated place in Sathanur Hosahalli village, on the outskirts of Bengaluru on Friday.

Karthik Shetty, 30, was a resident of Fraser town and was employed at a private firm here. The cause of his death is yet to be ascertained. The deceased is survived by his wife and six-month-old son.

Pulakeshinagar police said that at 11.30 am Friday, Karthik's mother filed a missing person complaint. She said that he had left from his home on Thursday afternoon but had not returned. Police suspect that he poured petrol over his body, rolled up the windows and set himself ablaze.

Police told a leading daily that just before his death his mobile Google search revealed that he was looking for ways to commit suicide inside a car. Also, given Karthik had suffered minor burn injuries, police suspect that he might have suffocated to death.

Meanwhile, cops said that hours after the complaint was registered, a villager had found Karthik's car who called the Chikkajala police at about 2 pm. Police rushed to the spot and later called the jurisdictional police.

Based on the preliminary probe, Bagaluru police have registered a case of suicide, adding the further probe is underway, deputy commissioner of police (northeast) Kala Krishnaswamy told the leading daily.
