Abu Dhabi: As Narendra Modi was sworn in as the 15th Prime Minister of India on Thursday, the facade of the iconic ADNOC Group Tower in Abu Dhabi was lit with the flags of India and the UAE. Portraits of Modi and Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, signifying the close bilateral relations between the two countries were put on show.

Replying to the gesture Indian Ambassador to the UAE Navdeep Singh Suri wrote on his Twitter handle, "Now this is true friendship! As PM @narendramodi is sworn in for a second term in office, the iconic @AdnocGroup tower in Abu Dhabi is lit up with India and UAE flags and portraits of our PM and of HH Sheikh." He also tagged a video of the beautifully-lit tower.

Speaking to a news agency, Suri said that the India-UAE relations witnessed a real transformation since Prime Minister Modi's visit to the UAE in August 2015.

Suri underlined that the transformed relations made an unprecedented impact in areas such as trade and investment flows, food and energy security, manpower and skills, literature and culture, defence, space and security cooperation, and growing people-to-people connections.

Suri added that as the PM begins his second tenure in the office, there is great scope and optimism for India-UAE ties and that can translate into a 'Golden Era' in the ties between the nations.

PM Modi on Friday brought out the list of cabinet ministers which include BJP president Amit Shah will be the minister of Home Affairs, Rajnath Singh who was the home minister in the first term of the NDA will now be the defence minister, Nirmala Sitharaman is the new finance minister, while the new entrant is former Foreign Secretary Subrahmanyam Jaishankar who will be the minister of external affairs that was earlier headed by Sushma Swaraj in the previous government.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also be in charge of the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Department of Atomic Energy, Department of Space, all important policy issues and other portfolios not allocated to any minister.

President Ram Nath Kovind on Thursday allocated portfolios to the 57 ministers who took the oath of office at the Rashtrapati Bhavan a day earlier. The council of ministers has 24 cabinet ministers, nine ministers of state with independent charge and 24 ministers of state.

PM Modi, who got a massive mandate in the elections improved its tally by notching up 303 seats in the 17th Lok Sabha elections compared to 282 in 2014. Along with its NDA allies, the number swelled to 353 in the 543-member Lower House of the Parliament.

Last week, Mohammed bin Zayed, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE's Armed Forces congratulated PM Modi for leading the BJP to a landslide victory, saying he looked forward to working with him to deepen their ties.
