Muslim Couple Donate Antique Padmavathi Idol To TTD Museum

A 16th century Panchaloha idol of Goddess Padmavathi was donated by a Muslim family from Mumbai

Tirupati: A 16th century Panchaloha idol of Goddess Padmavathi was donated by a Muslim family from Mumbai. The idol was donated to the SV Museum which is run by TTD. According to Col. Chandra Sekhar, TTD Chief Museum officer, the idol donor, L Rehman Sheikh hails from Mumbai city. "According to the certificate issued by the Archaeology Survey of India, the pure Panchaloha idol is 460 years old and the devotee donated the idol to senior officials. After verifying the facts and certifications, we agreed to have the idol in our museum on November 1. The Panchaloha Padmavathi idol will be displayed at the SV Musuem very soon and the daily rituals will also be performed," the senior official said.

According to reports, the Muslim family was carrying the idol since 100 years. The couple performing rituals to the idol were ageing and decided to donate it to a responsible authority. They approached a Hindu organization in Mumbai which contacted TTD officials and made them display in SV Museum.
