Uber Cab Golmaal: Driver Begins Trip Without Passenger!

Mumbai: On July 19, city-based marketing professional Preshit Deorukhkar encountered a strange experience during his Uber ride with a driver named "P". At the time of booking his ride, Preshit did not see it coming, after the driver began the ride without even picking him up.

The driver began the ride, before even arriving at the pickup location in Malad West. The driver went onto reach North Mumbai, before taking a U-turn back into the city. Preshit tracked the ride all along and raised the issue with Uber Support, in a series of tweets:

In the end, Uber's support system began the refund process for the Rs 857 he was charged. "Since it would be unfair to charge you for a ride you have not taken, I've refunded the full trip fare of INR 857.43 to your payment method, which will reflect in your account within the next 3-5 business days. Also, as your driver started the trip without you, I've gone ahead and made a note about this on the driver-partners profile," Uber support said.
