Meet This IAS Officer Who Quit Job To Help Underprivileged Children

Dr. Roman Saini, who is also one of the youngest bureaucrats in the country who had cracked IAS exam at a tender age of 22.

At a time when a section of bureaucrats in the country are seriously mulling to take a plunge into active politics to serve the country, an IAS officer from Jabalpur put his papers down to help and educate underprivileged children.

With a zeal to serving the society, he left his well-paid job in Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and the "Babu status" to launch a website 'Unacademy' that offers coaching for civil services aspirants and training for students from various other fields.

Meet former Collector of Jabalpur town in Madhya Pradesh state — Dr. Roman Saini, who was also one of the youngest bureaucrats in the country who had cracked IAS exam at a tender age of 22. Born in Pink City - Jaipur, Saini also holds a record for being the youngest student to have cleared the pre-medical examination and a doctor at the highly reputed institution – AIIMS.

"Seven years ago when I had visited a village as part of my medical camp, I happened to see how the people in the country side were deprived of basic amenities and medical care," the 25-year-old Saini said.

After successfully launching his website — 'Unacademy' along with his friend Gaurav Munjal, Dr. Saini resigned to his IAS post in 2016 in order to devote full time for his mission to educate the poor.

Roman Saini takes time to give motivational speeches to thousands of civil aspirants in various universities on cracking one of the India's toughest exams. Total of 10 students of Unacademy cracked civils services exams so far.

The channel - Unacademy provides a costly study materials free of cost for students those who cannot afford them. It covers geography, physics, history, politics, arts, environment, ecology, biodiversity etc.
