Hyderabad: Actor Mahesh Babu, director Koratala Siva and producer Y. Naveen were issued summons by a city court in connection with alleged Copy Rights Act violation with the film 'Srimanthudu'.
The summons directed the trio to appear before it on March 3. As per reports, the summons were issued on January 31 but it only came to light on Monday.
The petition was filed by writer Sharath Chandra, who alleged that the movie 'Srimanthudu' released last year is based on his novel ‘Chachchenta Prema' which was published in a Telugu magazine in 2012. He alleged that the makers have used his story without his consent.
“The film makers offered me some money for an out-of-court settlement but I was not keen about monetary consideration. Instead, I wanted them to give me credit for the story if Srimanthudu was remade in Hindi and use my other stories to make their future films,'' Sharath said.
