A big rally organised to welcome the newly inducted Union Minister, Kavuri Sambasiva Rao turned tragic.

It is learnt that a vehicle which was carrying crackers burst, claiming a life and injuring two others in Krishna district on Tuesday. The injured have been admitted to a nearby hospital.

However, the rally went on even after the debacle, sources say. Hundred vehicles are following Kavuri's convoy, eye witnesses say. His supporters are defending Kavuri's rally saying the minister is likely to visit the family of the deceased after the completion of the rally in the evening.

The Union textiles minister is visiting his native for the first time after earning a place in the Union Cabinet. A huge rally was arranged at Pedaavutapalli to celebrate the occasion. Kavuri was proceeding from Gannavaram to Eluru. Large number of supporters participated in the rally and bursting crackers.

Latest reports say that Samaikyandhra leaders had planned to obstruct the rally which was foiled by the police, who took several members into their custody.

It may be recalled that Samaikyandhra supporters are miffed with the new union minister after Kavuri did a u-turn on Telangana.
