Honeypreet Insan Likely To Surrender In Panchkula Court 

New Delhi: Authorities threw a ring of security personnel around the Panchkula district court on Tuesday morning following reports that Honeypreet Insan, the adopted daughter of convicted Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, would surrender after almost a month in hiding.

Panchkula police commissioner AS Chawla said she had not been arrested so far. “Neither we have been approached by any dera man for her surrender,” said Chawla.

In interviews to television news channels on Tuesday, Honeypreet claimed that she would surrender soon and that she had no role in inciting violence across Punjab and Haryana following Singh’s conviction on rape charges last month. The ensuing arson and violence had left 38 people dead and scores injured across four states.

There were also speculation that she might appear before the Punjab and Haryana high court where security was also increased.

In her television interviews, she claimed that all allegations against her were false and that she didn’t incite violence.

“How can I instill fear among dera followers that day from inside the court in tight security? I did not utter a word after Guruji was convicted and did not pass on any code message through my bag,” she said.

On being asked why she has been hiding for over a month, she said that she was not hiding.

“I just went in to depression after court order. Then I came to know that lookout notice has been issued against me. I did have the knowledge about judicial process. After someone’s guidance, I somehow managed to go to Delhi to apply for my bail. Now I am planning to surrender before Punjab and Haryana court,” she said.
