HC transfers PIL filed against CM

The Andhra Pradesh High Court on Friday transferred the public interest writ petition filed against Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy to a Division Bench of the court.

Sometime back, Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) leader Harish Rao challenged the action of the State government for diverting 6.61 TMC of drinking water from Kandaleru project in Nellore to CM's home constituency Pileru in Chittoor at a cost of Rs.7, 390 crore.
In the petition, he mentioned that currently the entire Cabinet is divided along regional lines, and there is no possibility of securing approval and funds from either the State Cabinet or Assembly for the Chittoor project. Knowing that it is not possible to get cabinet approval for the subject project, the CM has taken the decision with a mala fide intention by ignoring mandatory provisions of law.
