Selfie Death: Frolic Turns Fatal as Five Engineering Students Drown in Dharmasagar
Warangal: Taking a selfie at reservoir turned fatal for five Engineering students in Warangal district on Saturday.
The students, who went for a swim in Dharmasagar reservoir situated about 10 kilometers from their college, slipped and fell into the water while taking a selfie standing on a rock amid the reservoir water. The deceased have been identified as P Sravya Reddy (19), P Vinootna (18), Karne Sivasai (19), P Sivasai Krishna (20) and Uppala Srinidhi. A sixth student, R Pratyusha, was rescued by other revellers in the vicinity. All the students are said to be in the third year of CSE course at Vagdevi Engineering College.
The tragedy took place while one of the girl student was trying to take her selfie standing on a rock. But the girl slipped into the water and drowned. In the process, the remaining students also got into the water one after the other in order to save the first girl. Unfortunately, none of them survived though they allegedly knew how to swim. Police reached the spot and all the bodies were fished out and the sent for autopsy. An investigation is underway.
