Four women passengers die in auto mishap in AP

Rajahmundry: Four persons were killed on Saturday while many others were injured when the autorickshaw in which they were travelling met with an accident in Jangareddygudem mandal of West Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh.

The autorickshaw driver had lost control of the vehicle while negotiating a steep curve and the vehicle tumbled down the sloped road causing the accident, Jangareddygudem Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) J Venkat Rao said.

Four of the seven women passengers, hailing from Chinnayagudem village, who were returning from Lord Venkateswara Swamy temple in Parijatha Giri were killed in the incident, he said. The three other woman passengers and the driver were injured in the mishap, police said.

Three injured persons were rushed to a local hospital, while another was shifted to a hospital in Eluru and is in a serious condition. A case has been registered and further investigation is on, he said.
